Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. There are so many different dishes you can eat after getting up. And because breakfast is so important for a good start to the day, you should pay attention to what you eat.
It is not impossible to eat a healthy diet and still have a delicious and balanced breakfast.
Today, we present some options on how to make sure you avoid added sugar at breakfast or maybe even eat a completely sugar-free diet in the morning.
Our consumption of sugar in the morning has an impact on our body throughout the day.
So if you already have a ‘sweet’ breakfast in the morning, it has an effect on the entire day, and you always have a great desire for other sugar products.
The proportion of industrial sugar in yogurt or breakfast flakes is often very high (up to 34%, among other things!). However, the very easily digestible carbohydrates of conventional sugar are quickly broken down, and you quickly get hungry again.
The feeling of satiety never lasts long – so you generally eat more during the day. This is often difficult to reconcile with a diet. But how can this be prevented? And what can you eat without consuming sugar right after you get up?
Sweet but without added sugar
Just because something is sugar-free doesn't mean it doesn't taste good. Especially at breakfast, many people like to eat jam and honey, to start the day sweet.
But how can you be careful not to be exposed to industrial sugar at the first meal of the day?
1. Muesli with fruit and yogurt
For cereals, you should make sure that you have the unsweetened version at home. The same applies to yogurt, as these products can frequently contain added sugar.
The simple muesli tastes best if you soak it a little beforehand.
If you want something a little sweeter, you can always add a dash of coconut or almond milk and a hint of cinnamon. In our assortment, you will find some

2. Any type of porridge
Porridge is currently on everyone's lips and the hype breakfast par excellence. It is now widely known that porridge is healthy. Porridge is also quite easy to prepare. If you pay close attention to calories, you can easily prepare the porridge with water.
To further improve the taste, you can add fresh fruit. But our favorite is porridge with almond or coconut milk. A pinch of cinnamon, and you have a sweet breakfast that is not dependent on industrial sugar.
With our organic porridges, we pay attention to a low sugar content and delicious taste with high-quality organic ingredients.
3. Overnight Oats
Many people don't have as much time in the morning to prepare their porridge on the stove or with hot water (even if it really doesn't take long).
One way to get around this is the so-called overnight oats.
If you soften the flakes overnight in liquid, they will be just as delicious as freshly made in the morning.
You take a bowl, fill it with porridge, and cover it with liquid – so you have a delicious porridge in the morning, without any stress.
For even better overnight oats, add a pinch of salt, cinnamon, and possibly a dash of peanut butter (organic).
But it is also possible with a completely sugar-free diet in the morning
However, if you want to completely do without any kind of sugar in the morning and want to maximize your healthy diet, you should orient yourself here:
1. Black bread with different toppings
A classic. Black bread in itself is very healthy and nutritious. Coupled with a delicious topping, the black bread is best enjoyed.
Here you can, for example, rely on cheese – because of the many different types, you will not get bored quickly, and you can taste great. For vegans, there are also plenty of alternatives such as hummus or lentil spreads.
2. Eggs in any form
Not suitable for vegans – the egg. Eggs contain no sugar, making them an extremely nutritious, sugar-free alternative for the morning. Be it a hard-boiled or soft-boiled egg, scrambled eggs, fried eggs, or an omelet.
You can let your imagination run wild with eggs. Just a fried egg with salt and pepper? Scrambled eggs with vegetables? Or maybe an omelet with finely sliced spring onions? There should be something for everyone here.
If you also want to pay attention to sustainability, it is best to buy eggs locally or at least make sure in the supermarket that the eggs are organic and free-range.
3. Avocado
Finally, there's a superfood on our list: the avocado. With many natural fats, the avocado is a great energy source. In addition, 100 grams of avocado already covers 30% of the daily requirement for vitamin K.
Furthermore, the avocado promotes digestion and contains many antioxidants. As a small extra bonus, avocado also lowers cholesterol. So the avocado really deserves the title of superfood. You can prepare the avocado as a spread for bread or directly from the bowl with a little oil and salt.
